Darrin Jenkins
Jenkins is a lifestyle and still-life photographer who has a keen interest in creating inventive and beautifully lit images. He has worked with a number of diverse briefs and genres such as product, interior and food photography. Jenkins uses light and composition to create moods and to enhance the form of the products he is advertising. His work is persuasive and tempting which encourages the audience to buy the product. He always uses the latest image techniques to explore art, composition, emotion and elegance which emphasises the beauty of the product. Jenkins always challenges the briefs given to him so he can produce the best images possible.

He has collaborated with a wide range of specialists to develop creative concepts and is always willing to give advice to the campaigns and projects. Jenkins has collaborated with many companies such as Ted Baker, icandy and Benoy. He has also been nominated for awards and was the winner of AoP Awards 2012, which allowed him to have national exhibitions.

On Jenkins' website, he states, 'One type of photography I love is still-life and product, usually shot in the studio and often involving some special effects, high speed flash and multi-composite techniques.' From this you can tell that he is inspired by different lighting techniques and effects that he can use in the studio. He also enjoys capturing the products with a fast shutter speed so he can show the product in action.
In this photograph, Jenkins uses bright and bold colours to convey the concept of summer.  He used a fast shutter speed to freeze the motion in his shot. The use of water makes the drink look fresh and hydrating, and it also makes the audience feel relaxed as if you are on holiday. The shape of the yellow can is emphasised against the blue background which draws the audience to the name and details of the product. The green leaves in the corner compliment the yellow and blue tones within the image. The can has been placed in the centre of the composition as it is the most important part of the photograph. The movement of the can entering the water generates energy within the photo which makes it exciting and appealing to the audience.

I was drawn to Jenkins' images as they are extremely high quality and creative. I also found his lighting techniques interesting as they are a key part of his photographs. The lighting sets the whole mood of his images. I also like his use of bold colours as they always compliment the product being shown. I find his ideas very original and appealing to the audience.
